Job description:  

My Client, a market-leader in its field, is currently seeking applications for an Assistant Purchasing Category Manager to join their team.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for specific areas of the Business Services purchasing portfolio.
• Will be expected to actively support the strategic management of the category and lead purchasing engagements defined by the Category manager.
• Will be party to the research and analysis phase of strategy development, expected to identify significant improvement opportunities
• Responsibility for the implementation and delivery of critical savings and service benefits.
• Responsibility for the performance and management of identified key suppliers and through these insure the needs of a number of business units are met.

Requirements

• Experience of leading competitive tender processes,
• Developed skills in areas of research, spend analysis, specification detailing, supplier assessment, proposal analysis and vendor rating.
• Proven negotiation and influencing skills
• Familiarity with Contract Law
• Supplier performance monitoring and reporting
• Change management experience in a multi-site operation
• Project management skills
• Awareness of E-Procurement tools - including eAuctions and on-line catalogues
• Working knowledge of SAP, or similar, transaction tools
