 My Client is seeking an Inventory Planner (3-month placement, which may be extended) who has production planning experience to take responsibility for forecasting, planning and scheduling activities.

Based in City West (but with infrequent travel to plants / suppliers / depot locations) and reporting to the Inventory Master Planner, the successful candidate will have the following responsibilities;

Key Responsibilities:

  • Forecast market requirements at SKU level and monitor thereafter performance versus actual.
  • Work with the supplier base to develop rolling inventory management schedules that ensure external service levels are reached whilst minimising levels of waste.
  • Monitor and report progress against plan on a continual basis, interacting with the supplier base to initiate corrective actions where required.
  • Interact with Commercial activities in respect of new sku introductions and deletions, promotional forecasting, sampling, and general trade activities.
  • Liaise with Telesales Centre personnel and warehouse personnel to ensure actions are identified to progress short dated inventory.
  • Produce regular KPIs to validate effectiveness of role.
  • Assist local management in developing longer term capacity planning options.
  • Lead / participate in localised improvement projects as deemed appropriate.

Prospective candidates should note the following:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in an inventory management environment with developed knowledge of forecasting methodologies and order requirements determination.
  • A solid working knowledge of production planning, scheduling logic, and material requirements planning activities, ideally in an ERP environment, and preferably on SAP.
  • A supply chain qualification would be advantageous with IIPMM/APICS / IBF qualifications a distinct advantage.
  • Experience in a unionised environment would be preferable.
  • A background in FMCG employing both batch and continuous manufacturing technologies would be advantageous.
  • Specific production planning experience in a manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
