POSSIBLY 8AM - 4.30PM
20% PREMIUM ON EVENING SHIFT

DUTIES
Purpose of the Role:

Reporting to the Production Manager, this role requires the team leader to effectively and efficiently organize the production area/line from day to day, organizing all shift patterns, overtimes arrangements, corrective actions, direct reporting and team improvement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Production Planning and reviewing the production plan daily before shift ensuring all materials are available, equipment and machinery are set up and there is a full team to work the shift.
  • Scheduling all team duties, tasks and breaks for the day and communication of same
  • Cleaning checks, glass checks, swabs etc to be carried out and recorded. Any issues to be reported immediately
  • Corrective actions if required to be implemented as quickly as possible
  • Breakdowns to be managed, reported to maintenance and excessive downtimes to be documented and reported to the production manager (i.e. >15mins)
  • Health & Safety is everyone's responsibility but the team leader must ensure employees on the team are working in a safe manner at all times. They must report them if they are not.
  • Make sure all PPE gear is worn at all times
  • Product issues or quality issues to be reported and addressed immediately minimizing downtime but ensuring 100% standards and quality
  • Report any shortages that may affect the production plan or report any other issues that may affect it also.
  • Problem Solving - people, equipment, production

Team Management & Objectives

  • Goals / targets to be set for each team member on a daily basis and the same communicated to them
  • Efficiencies of team to be maintained at an absolute maximum
  • Ensure all team members comply with company contract and policies
  • Overtime to be maintained to a minimum, recorded and justified
  • Communicate all relevant issues to the team
  • Report the training needs of the team to the Production Manager
  • Work with the production manager to organise holiday cover and sick days to maintain the production plan
  • Motivate team daily to meet targets

THE CANDIDATE

Key Behaviours/Competencies:

  • The Position also requires a proven ability to work under minimal supervision, along with a high level of motivation and enthusiasm
  • Level headed & a logical thinker
  • Willing to learn the information that is involved in the job
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
  • A 'can do' attitude
  • Organised and attentive to detail
  • Ability to deal with unplanned maintenance etc

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 2 - 3yrs manufacturing supervisory experience
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards
  • Experience within a meat / food processing environment
  • Experience of managing people, problems & issues daily
  • Knowledge of production schedules and customer demands
