FINANCIAL / TREASURY ACCOUNTANT
Status: Full Time, Permanent

A major international shipping group is currently seeking a Financial / Treasury Accountant as part of its' Finance Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to further their career in a dynamic and expanding industry.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monitoring and accounting for the Group Finance Company. This Company's activities principally involve FX and derivative trading, lending and borrowing funds and hedging for other group activities in a multi-currency environment
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements for the Group Finance Company; this includes ensuring all financial products are accounted for in accordance with group accounting policies, reconcile intercompany balances, compute internal interest, debtor and creditor analysis
  • Monitor control systems to ensure timely and accurate reporting of company results
  • Maintenance of share portfolio
  • Treasury and foreign exchange management; proactively managing forward positions
  • Ad hoc analysis and projects
  • Facilitate the year end audit process for a number of group companies
  • Sole responsibility for preparation of statutory and management accounts for a number of group companies
  • Compile VAT returns for management
  • Responsible for planning, budgeting and forecasting
  • Responsible for financial analysis and control, reporting of actual V budget results
  • Ensure monthly bank reconciliations, prepayments, accruals and depreciations and inter-company charges are posted correctly
  • Management of company capital including debtor collection and cash management
  • Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register
  • Reporting to Chief Financial Officer


Main Requirements

  • Part qualified accountant
  • Business / Accounting degree
  • 2 years or more experience in a similar hands-on role
  • Knowledge of IFRS / IAS rules
  • International / multinational experience
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge of accounting systems
  • Self-motivated and proactive approach
  • Effective multi-tasker with ability to focus on key priorities
  • Strong analytical skills, detail orientation and accuracy
  • Ability to build effective working relationships while working as part of a team
