In partnership with my client, I have an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant with good Financial Reporting experience.  My client is a leading Irish bookmakers and the role involved is a 15 month contract with a salary of up to €65,000, depending on experience.

Specific responsibilities:

Group Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Assistance in the preparation of annual statutory accounts for the company and its subsidiaries to tight deadlines in accordance with IFRS and Irish / UK GAAP
  • Production of Annual and Interim published financial reports in association with key finance personnel
  • Assistance in the consolidation of Group financial statements in accordance with IFRS
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Group General Ledger and the Group Chart of Accounts to ensure that they continually evolve to meet business needs
  • Preparation of individual statutory accounts for all group entities within set timescales
  • Preparation of the monthly intercompany reconciliations
  • Research technical financial issues which impact the Group
  • Contributing to the targeted reductions in monthly close times as part of fast close project
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve existing processes or introduce new processes to add value to reporting output

Management Reporting

  • Manage the monthly management accounts close process
  • Production of monthly Group MI Pack through the Hyperion reporting system
  • Look to continuously improve the monthly accounts close process
  • Working with various teams as part of the management accounts production / close process and to help deliver the required information to run business units across the company
  • Working with Financial Planning and Analysis Manager to ensure budget and forecast information is delivered according to set deadlines
  • Contribute to ensuring that a high quality Finance Partnering model is in place for cost reporting across all Corporate support functions and cost centres
  • Contribute to cost control and efficiency programmes throughout the organisation
  • Review of monthly allocations of Head office costs to business units

Experience required:

  • Qualified ('Big 4') accountant with 2+ years experience, operating at a similar level, in industry or financial services, preferably gained in a multi-national environment
  • Excellent financial accounting experience with a solid understanding of current/relevant technical accounting issues (IFRS and Irish GAAP)
  • Proven experience of preparation of statutory financial statements in accordance with requirements
  • Solid experience of delivery of internal Financial MI / Management Accounts (to a broad and diverse range of revenue and cost centres)
  • Proven experience of assisting in the development and implementation of reporting & operating process improvements in a Finance environment
  • Strong Financial Systems experience - Oracle Financials & Hyperion would be an advantage
  • Excellent MS Office skills - particularly Excel
  • Excellent communicator, can deal effectively with financial and non-financial people and is focused on building and maintaining excellent working relationships across the business
  • Very strong technical accounting ability
