Role
Laboratory Manager for start-up environmental lab
Our client provides specialist environmental and hazardous waste management services, and operates the largest integrated waste management facility in the country. The new 3-acre complex has facilitated significant expansion of the services provided by the company. There is plenty of scope to expand there role and realise other opportunities within the company.
Responsibilities
· Heading up and operating a new start-up lab
· Responsible for the day to day running of an environmental chemistry lab
· Maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment including MS, spectrophotometer, flashpoint kit, pH meters, conductivity meters, general laboratory equipment.
· Carrying out all relevant environmental testing including moisture, flashpoint, sulphur, viscosity, BOD, COD, VOC's, heavy metals
· Performing internal QC checks
· Providing results that are accurate and well presented.
· Liaising with customers in connection with sample analysis.
Qualifications
Relevant environmental science qualification - Degree or Diploma
Knowledge and Experience
Advanced knowledge of environmental and analytical chemistry.
Experience in testing oils, discharge water and acids/bases
At least two years working in a laboratory environment.
Capable of working one one's own initiative
Hands-on and willing to operate in an industrial plant.
Competencies
Very good communication skills
Ability to plan ones own schedule
Ability to work in a busy environment
