Scientific Officer - Pharmacovigilance

The role of the Scientific Officer - Pharmacovigilance is to assist in processing work through the Market Reporting to: Market Surveillance Assessor



Key Responsibilities:

· Coding, classification and evaluation of adverse event/reaction data

· Maintaining records of in-house and archived adverse reaction data

· Electronic reporting of adverse reactions to EudraVigilance/WHO/companies

· Preparing & compiling pharmacovigilance data for review, including as required:

· IMB database searches

· Requests for company searches

· EudraVigilance/WHO database searches

· Preparing activity reports for the Market Surveillance Unit

· Contributing to the monitoring of and preparation of IMB responses to non-urgent information (NUI)/rapid alert (RA) and other requests for information

· Contributing to the preparation of PV related publications

· Participating in the performance development programme (PDP) of the organisation and contributing to the setting of goals and objectives

· Taking measures to identify and resolve issues impacting on the performance of the Market Surveillance Section

· Performing such other duties as the Board may reasonably require

· Qualifications & Experience



The ideal candidate will have:

· Primary degree in a relevant life science discipline

· Postgraduate experience in the area of Pharmacovigilance/clinical trials/compliance monitoring

· Excellent knowledge of medicines legislation and guidelines

· Experience in the area of monitoring the safety of medicines (essential)

· Excellent communication, presentation, report writing and interpersonal skills

· Excellent organisational and computer skills

· Proven ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
