Job description:  

HEAD OF Research & Development

Reporting to:

• Reporting to the Director R&D

Purpose of the Role:

· To manage R&D department for projects approved for development of R&D in order to meet the objectives of the R&D Function.

· Influence lab scale formulation & process development activities for product developed on other sites that are destined for transfer to the South-East.

· Co-ordinate/manage technical transfer of development projects to South-East & between South-East R&D to Operations.

· Lead pilot scale process development activity, process pharmaceutical characterization & process validation activity.

Areas of Focus :

• Lead, plan & monitor the Pharmaceutical Development teams to deliver projects on time & within budget.
• Plan, direct & monitor Pharmaceutical Development programmes against & within agreed costs in accordance with company deadlines.
• Lead, plan & monitor cross-functional product development teams to deliver New Products on time & within budget.
• Ensure that all work carried out is in compliance with the required standards, cGMP, cGLP, H&S, Environmental & Regulatory requirements.
• Deliver Customer Service (both internal and external) through project timelines in accordance with quality standards & cost control.
• Review departmental performance, identify areas for improvement & take corrective action as required to ensure continuous improvement.
• Ensure direct reports & their direct reports are given the training, coaching & support required to perform their duties to agreed standards of performance & in line with Company Performance Management Systems.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience :

· Degree level or higher qualification in a science related discipline. Minimum of 10 years relevant experience, of which 3-5 years are in a Leadership role within the Pharmaceutical Industry.

• Formulation and Process Development experience of Respiratory products
• Demonstrated Strategic thinking and Leadership
