Job description:
Senior Oracle Engineer

Our Clients  is an international provider of financial services and investment resources which help individuals and institutions meet their financial objectives. 

Their Management Technology group supports the core  business through the provision of technology platforms and services. They are currently expanding its global presence by growing technology teams in the US, Ireland and India.
The Irish organization provides key technology skills in the development of software platforms for  advisors in the Research, Trading and Portfolio Management domains. 


The Research Engineering team in Ireland, established in 2008, is responsible for the Common Research Services product (CRS), a repository for research notes published by FMR research analysts, based on a set of java web services and Oracle 11g database and stored procedures. Also developed by the team is the Research Browser application, a Silverlight front end that interacts with the CRS web services to search for and retrieve Research notes.
 
The successful candidate will partner with the existing Oracle engineer to design, develop and unit test enhancements to the CRS product driven by client requests, adoption of the product by new clients or by Product Management. Performance is a significant driver and any changes must have this as a key consideration.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 • Write consistent, reliable, maintainable and performant code.
• Ownership for the design and development of elements of the system and facilitate necessary review sessions.
 • Proactively communicate with QA, developers and business analysts to resolve issues or questions pertaining to project implementation.
 • Provide accurate and timely status reporting with Manager, including issues prohibiting progress when appropriate.
REQUIREMENTS:
• BS/MS Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering.
• 5+ years experience in systems development.
• At least 5 years of experience in Oracle SQL & PL/SQL
o Expertise in data analysis and excellent debugging skills.
 o Experience in SQL performance tuning. o Experience in designing the appropriate data access layer for real-time and batch applications.
o Experience in performance tuning and performance-led design highly desirable.
• Oracle Certification would be highly desirable.
• Comfortable with multiple database concepts, i.e. RDBMS, OODB, ODS, Warehouse.
• Experience in using utPLSQL.
• Familiarity with logical data modeling and relational database design.
• Experience in working with source control systems (preferably Clearcase). • Experience in working in UNIX environment.
 • Experience working with project teams located in multiple geographic locations. • Experience in delivering projects using Agile methodology.
