Job description:  

Job Specification:

Purpose: To investigate and present scientific evidence to support product claims in a novel and creative manner within the timeframes of NPD. To investigate innovative approaches and claims for cosmetic products.

Scope: Work closely with claim support, formulation, testing, regulatory and marketing departments. Liaise with external testing houses, raw material suppliers and finished product subcontractors and external consultants.

Reporting Relationships: The Claim Support Scientist-NPD will report to the Claim Support Manager.

Responsibilities:

To present in a creative way scientific support data to marketing in a consumer understandable manner.

Communicate effectively within cross functional categories.

Advise and confirm achievable product claims in the pre-brief and brief assessments.

Work with formulation chemist to select the correct raw materials and levels to achieve product claims.

Work with claim support scientist and external test laboratories to develop test protocols to substantiate product claims and coordinate tests to within the agreed NPD timeframes.

Create Product Claims Reports based on proposed and confirmed claims.

Issue Product Efficacy Report to regulatory within NPD timeframes.

Keep up to date with new evaluation methods and techniques for skin care and other cosmetics products.

Develop an expertise in the biological benefits and physical attributes of skin care, colour and other cosmetic products.

Qualifications: Graduate level scientific discipline

Experience: 1-2 years working in a similar role in the cosmetic / pharmaceutical industry.
