Quality Engineer

Job Summary:

Providing assistance to assigned area in managing product quality, data collection & analysis and driving of continuous improvements in accordance with the principles of TQM.

General Job Duties:

  • Determine data collection requirements and methodologies to support data driven decision making.
  • Analyse collected data and provide quality information to all departments who require it.
  • Provide leadership and technical knowledge to the assigned area on the implementation of the QMS in accordance with the requirements TS 16949:2002.
  • Propose, implement and maintain appropriate systems to evaluate the performance of the QMS and its processes with the goal of continual improvement. This will include the monitoring, measuring and analysis of defined metrics appropriate to the organisation.
  • Communication of quality issues to factory floor.
  • Management of quality documentation.
  • Member of TS Review Team


Specific Job Duties:
  • Manage continuous improvements for assigned area.
  • Manage action registers for all Quality/Engineering projects.
  • Produce a monthly report for input into Quality Report.
  • Responsible for MRB in the assigned area
  • Liaise with Production & Scheduling to expedite dispositions of material in the MRB area.
  • Review the QMS as it is currently implemented. Propose recommendations for the continual improvement of the QMS and provide leadership towards implementation of improvement activities.
  • Develop, implement and maintain a system to identify and control nonconforming product to ensure it is not delivered to customers.
  • Maintain appropriate records to provide evidence during QMS audits and to assist towards QMS improvement for all above items.
  • Work on problem solving teams and help with completion of 8D Report.
  • Liaise with Customer Engineer & others to ensure corrective and preventative actions are completed in an accurate and timely fashion



Other Duties:
  • Assist Company Management in promoting an atmosphere that fosters employee involvement, team work, the understanding that quality is everyone's responsibility, and that customer satisfaction and repeat orders are the best measure of quality performance.
  • Provide any necessary support to other personnel in their initiatives toward a better product and improved customer satisfaction.
  • Other duties as necessary to maintain the QMS and its registration.
  • Other duties as defined by Senior Management.


Qualifications:
  • Certificate or Diploma in an Engineering or Quality discipline.
  • Excellent mathematical and communication skills are necessary.
  • Computer skills are required, particularly the ability to use spreadsheets and databases; ability to use presentations (i.e MSPowerPoint) is also desirable.
  • Ability to work on projects with personnel at all levels of the organisation and to lead personnel on other projects as required.
  • Ability to develop a training plan and conduct the training of personnel towards their understanding of QMS requirements.



Other Requirements:
  • Ability to learn and communicate new methodologies
  • Ability to use standard mechanical inspection instruments.
  • Flexibility in schedule to allow for travel.
  • Ability to complete testing and inspection operations as required
