Job description: Chemistry Technician Our Client wish to recruit a talented individual to undertake process chemistry and environmental duties. The Chemistry Technician will be responsible for assisting to manage the operations and maintenance of water treatment and waste water plants and process chemistry so as to ensure that the company is operated to accepted international quality standards. The position will involve monitoring and record keeping associated with environmental compliance under the site IPPC licence and the environmental management system (EMS). Reporting to the Production Manager, the duties will include: · Laboratory analytical chemistry testing to appropriate quality standards. · Managing process water quality and output from the water treatment plant. · Managing discharge water quality from the waste water treatment plant. · Supply of environmental compliance data and input to reporting process. · Routine maintenance and calibration of all chemical instrumentation on site. · Assisting operations and maintenance teams in chemical operations. · Administration of the chemical safety system & chemical handling/unloading · Noise monitoring and Atmosphere testing. The successful candidate will be expected to work safely and effectively in a modern dynamic power station environment, which values commitment, initiative, flexibility, empowerment, openness, and continuous improvement. The position is day work based, but working hours can be flexible to suit the individual. Requirements: Candidates should ideally possess: · Experience of process industry water treatment plant operation and maintenance. · Working knowledge of water treatment plants and chemical analytical instrumentation. (including calibration and maintenance) · Experience of analytical chemistry, particularly water/wet chemistry.. · A tertiary educational qualification or suitable industrial experience, in lieu · A passionate interest in chemistry & current environmental issues. · Good computing skills. · A full driving licence. Personal Attributes: Candidates must be able to plan and organise their own work to achieve specific agreed objectives. The nature of the post demands attention to detail, the ability to identify and deal with problems, prioritise work-load, and to take pride in delivering high quality work. Good interpersonal, team working and communications skills, especially in report writing.
