Formulation Scientist

Summary of Position: Reporting to the R&D Manager, the formulation scientist will be responsible for the formulation and process development of new pharmaceutical products using the client's technology platforms. This position is integral to the successful development and commercialization of our product pipeline candidates. The position is located in Co. Roscommon, Ireland. This is a unique and exciting multi-disciplined opportunity as the successful candidate will also be a contributor in the design, implementation, and qualification of the new development facility in Ireland.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the identification and development of new opportunities supporting the company business model, leading to commercially viable proprietary formulation and process technologies, either stand-alone or stemming from the current company technology platforms.
  • Conduct experiments/studies/trials from the formulation/process development and scale-up stages through tech transfer and validation for new pharmaceutical products.
  • Perform these development activities within strict timelines to successfully meet internal and client program milestones.
  • Assume the lead role in the R&D-related aspects of clinical manufacture to facilitate all study phases (from pre-clinical through registration, technology transfer and validation).
  • Support the preparation of R&D-related documentation (e.g. CMC sections of IND, NDA etc.) to support global registration filing.
  • Preparation and/or review of documentation for processes, procedures and small-scale/large scale equipment including but not limited to master batch records, SOP's, equipment qualification, process/equipment validation protocols, manufacturing process protocols, and sampling/test protocols.
  • Support the generation of pharmaceutical development reports and related documentation.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Pharmacy, Chemistry or related area with 1-4 years experience in pharmaceutical (formulation and/or process) development in a cGMP environment.
  • Demonstrated track record in pharmaceutical product development and commercialization preferably in a customer-driven environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve scientific and technical challenges either alone or in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of mathematical/statistical design and modeling (DOE).
  • Ability to manage multiple programs at more than one site simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership, communication and presentation skills (written and oral).
