Job description:  

Candidates should have exeprience of as many of the following as possible:
AIX Administration in a P series environment.
IBM DS4700 SAN Storage Management.
Maintaining and operating IBM SAN and Tivoli Backup software.
Managing Backup and Recovery procedures using Tivoli Storage Manager software.
Creating, supporting and maintaining virtual partitions using VIO partitioning software.
Providing skills transfer and mentoring.
Monitoring of Hardware and Operating/ Software.
Update/upgrade of AIX.
Day-to-day management of Servers and SAN environments.
Upgrading machine firmware.
Planning, implementing and monitoring Backup requirements, and managing Tivoli backup software.
Creating, maintaining and troubleshooting problems and issues with VIO partitions.
Liaising with maintenance contractors for the resolution of both planned and unplanned system outages.
Implementing security as required in conformity with guidelines, and monitoring security access to all environments.
Recommending/implementing enhancements to hardware configurations.
Working with suppliers to install/commission new hardware.
Regular and Exception Reporting on all aspects of environment activity.
Liaison with other members of teams on cross-platform requirements or issues.
Providing/updating best practice guidelines, standards and procedures on hardware/operating software deployment and configuration management.
