Pharmaceutical Engineering Manager

In partnership with its client CPL is currently seeking for an Engineering Manager for a permanent position in a Pharmaceutical company in the Leinster area.

Job purpose:

To lead the engineering team in areas of design, process and contract engineering and maintenance programs; to manage the support aspects of such a role (project management; capital expenditure applications and management; budgets and finances, personnel etc) and to ensure the efficient running and continuous improvement of all the sites facilities, utilities and services.

Responsibilities:

  • Health & Safety: To ensure that all engineering work and designs are carried out to appropriate standards of health and safety.
  • Design Engineering: Manage design engineering work of the engineering team to deliver efficient, cost-effective engineering solutions to manufacturing issues, process problems and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Process Engineering: To lead participation of engineering team in process design, development and continuous improvement. Provide on-going manufacturing upgrade and support.
  • Technology Transfer: Lead engineering aspects of technology transfer projects.
  • Utilities Management: To ensure that utilities plant (including environmental management plant and equipment) provides support required to manufacturing and operates within limits set by relevant authorities.
  • Maintenance Management: To ensure delivery of high quality maintenance program to manufacturing and to the whole site; organise and lead maintenance shutdowns; and ensure breakdowns are swiftly, safely and adequately responded to.
  • Project Management: Create, present and lead engineering projects, providing direction and guidance to project teams.
  • Equipment Commissioning and Validations: Oversee equipment installation commissioning and validation to required standards (cGMP, FDA, IMB, EPA, Has, Customer, Corporate and other relevant standards.)
  • Capital Expenditure: Manage capital expenditure program for the site.

Requirements:

  • Engineering Degree Qualification (Mechanical or similar)
  • 10+ years experience in a leading or senior engineering role in the Pharmaceutical industry. FDA regulated environment.
  • High level of computer literacy required: Project Manager, DCS Systems, PLC's PEMAC etc.
  • Proven ability to manage projects (including large scale contracts) on time and within budget.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and influence others to achieve objectives in a team based environment.
  • Mature judgment, problem solving and decision-making ability.
  • Ability to identify, develop and deliver on process improvement opportunities.
  • Energetic committed individual who is used to working to tight deadlines, and can work in a flexible way when necessary.
