THE JOB
Food Technician

BASED - Naas Co. Kildare
Purpose of the Role:
· To ensure that standard samples requested are sent to customers with minimal possible time delay.
· To assist in concept developments and trials in the factory.
· To provide a support service for Project Managers and Technologists.
· To maintain the efficient running and general upkeep of the Test Kitchen, Chill and Freezer.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To organise the sending out of samples to meet customer requests, ensuring the quickest possible turn around time from receipt of sample request to the customer receiving the samples.
2. Organizing all relevant paperwork, sample labels, address labels, courier dockets, sample boxes and
Dry ice for the dispatch of samples.
3. Arranging and preparing product presentations as required for visitors
4. Responsibility for maintaining and weekly cleaning of storage space
5. Assist the Project Managers in concept and small-scale factory / kitchen trials and following through from blending, cooking, and dicing where necessary and liaising with other departments on concept work.
6. Completion and recording of results from trials completed and feeding of information into project manager.
7. Ensure that the cleanliness of the chills and test kitchen area is maintained at all times.
8. To monitor kitchen supplies and order accordingly.
9. Any other tasks as outlined by head of department
THE CANDIDATE
Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience in a food environment / industry
- Project and trials experience
Qualifications:
- Minimum Leaving Certificate or equivalent
- Certificate or diploma in a food science or similar discipline
Key Behaviours/Competencies:
- Develop good interpersonal skills and deal with people at all levels
- Be a good team player
- Effectively manage and organize trials and samples
- Co-ordinate administrative activities
- Be health and safety conscious
- Be computer literate
- Ability to use own initiative and self motivated
