Senior HR Generalist

Background

The HR Team in the MI are implementing a number of initiatives during 2008 and require an experienced Human Resource Generalist to join their team for a 16 week assignment.

Principal Tasks:

  • Daily management of HR team (HR Operations Assistant, HR Clerical Administrator, HR e-PMDS Project Coordinator & HR e-learning bursar) to ensure a best practice HR Service is consistently provided in line with MI policy and Excellence Through People requirements.

  • Coordinate Recruitment & Selection ensuring MI policy is adhered to consistently - to include approving of Job Descriptions, short-listing, interviewing, feedback and making contracts ready for approval by HR Manager.

  • Work with external company to complete a competency framework review of STO and Lab Analyst grades (IPA or PAS).

  • Coordinate training and implementation of 1%.

  • Conclude launch of MI Management Development Programme and issuing of manuals etc.

  • Research projects as listed in HR charter -e.g. Carry out research to benchmark MI Learning & Development programme against best practice organisations.

  • This is not an exhaustive list; other duties may be assigned from time to time as appropriate to the role.

Education, Professional or Technical Qualifications, Skills, Aptitudes, Experience and Training

Essential:

  • A minimum of 10 years experience as a Human Resource Generalist post qualification. Five of which should have been spent in a Human Resource management position.
  • Chartered membership of CIPD.
  • A degree and / or post graduate qualification in a relevant subject.
  • Demonstrated team management experience.
  • Demonstrated project and financial management experience.
  • Proven research and business writing skills.
  • Practical experience in all aspects of Recruitment and Selection.
  • Hands on experience of Learning & Development.
  • The ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) and work well with others at all levels.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Strong IT skills, in particular Microsoft Office.
  • Effective Administration and Organisation skills.
  • The ability to manage time effectively and multitask to meet deadlines.
  • Previous experience in the execution of organisational policies and processes.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in a quality assurance /control environment.
  • Prior experience in a scientific/research environment.
  • Experience of Public sector organisations
