Technical Consultant
The Technical Consultant possesses a broad set of technical skills that enables him/her to perform a wide range of technical functions the customer base. He or she is typically part of a larger implementation team that includes a Project Manager, Solutions Designer and Functional Expert, although sometimes he or she is assigned to a customer to solve its specific technical problems or challenges. This will be a 2 year fixed term contract and the consultant must be available to travel to client sites across Europe.
Responsibilities
- Convert customer business requirements into functional and technical design specifications
- Configure, develop, test, and deploy interfaces to/from other systems
- Configure, develop, test, and deploy reports
- Configure, develop, test, and deploy portlets
- Configure, develop, test, and deploy automated workflows and supporting stored procedures
- Conduct performance testing
- Analyze and solve complex customer issues involving data, hardware, software, and network
- Perform installations, upgrades, migrations, and patches of the software
- Mentor customers on how to use technical utilities
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience performing enterprise application consulting
- 5+ years experience in IT
- Strong knowledge of operating systems - Windows NT / 2000, Sun Solaris 8, and HP-UX 11
- Ability to perform software installations on all three platforms
- Ability to create / modify batch files and shell scripts
- Knowledge of general networking and security procedures
- Strong knowledge of databases - Oracle, MSSQL Server
- Ability to backup and restore databases
- Ability to import and export databases
- Ability to create and modify database settings
- Ability to write stored procedures
- Strong SQL skills
- Experience with development ie. JAVA, .NET, PERL, HTML, and
- Experience writing reports (Actuate preferred)
- Strong knowledge / experience of performance testing
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
