                                          Environmental Health and Safety Facilitator

Principal Accountabilities:

Reporting to the EH&S Manager and working closely with teams and individuals on all aspects of Environmental Health & Safety program. Liaise with and support Processing, Packaging, Technical Services, Materials, Quality and Engineering Departments to maximise efforts towards excellence in EHS management..

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop relevant systems and program's plant-wide and strive for continuous improvement in all related areas.

  • Ensure that the plant maintains compliance with legislative and Corporate requirements e.g. EMAS, ISO14001, OHSAS 18001, IPPC License etc.

  • Ensures appropriate programmes are adhered to for all legislative requirements. In line with this keep all employees updated on emerging EH&S Legislation.

  • Identify Environmental Health & Safety training needs and co- ordinate with the Training department.

  • Ensure that the plant is continuously prepared for audits and inspections.

  • Manage Contractor/Safety plans and compliance with appropriate safety requirements including construction regulations and ensure Contractor Orientation programme is current.

  • Investigate all incidents and track corrective actions using the incident database.

  • Complete EH&S site audits as per site audit schedules.

  • Participate in the promotion of good EH&S practices.

  • Participate in the communication and consultation of EH&S.

  • Assist in the drafting, upkeep, implementation and ensuring compliance with site EH&S procedures.

  • Review and update the Safety Statement.

  • Participate and conduct risk assessments including the development and implementation of controls to reduce risk.

Requirements:

Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Science, Chemistry or other related discipline. Ideally the individual will have a Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety & Health or Environmental Health.

Experience/Skills:

  • Minimum 1-3 years in related industry or working in a large organization with established EH&S program accredited to recognized EH&S systems.

  • A strong belief in EH & S philosophy

  • Excellent people skills to support & foster a plant-wide EH&S culture, with strong emphasis on teamwork

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Good influencing skills

  • Good presentation and training skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft IT applications

  • Experience in Health & Safety and/or Environmental auditing.
