Senior Manufacturing / Safety Engineer

Scope:

This position is accountable for the proactive management of the Site Safety Strategy for our client in Galway. The purpose of this position is to ensure that a safe working environment exists at all times, through pro-active management of potential and identified projects. The output must impact the reduction of accidents and incidents and to continue the development of the safety management system to sustain OHSAS 18001 Accreditation. The successful candidate will lead proactively the EH&S Team, to identify and resolve potential areas of risk on the site and bring resolution in a timely manner. They will have a hands on approach and will have a visible presence prioritising Safety within the plant. The person will have the ability to influence all levels of the organisation, ensuring that a safe working environment exists at all times and will be focused on rapid implementation of improvements.

Accountabilities / Major challenges include:

  • Proactively manage the Site Safety Strategy to impact the reduction of accidents/ incidents as outlined in the business plan, as well as sustain OHSAS 18001 Accreditation.
  • Manage the implementation of the Site Risk Assessment Program. Action the elimination and reduction of hazards and risks in conjunction with Manufacturing Operations, Engineering and EH&S Team.
  • Manage the accident and incident investigation process and carry out accident and incident investigation with relevant area managers and other members of EH&S Team, implementing immediate containment and permanant corrective action.
  • Drive change in Behavioural Safety Training Program to improve the plant safety culture through active engagement of alll employees.
  • Action oriented safety improvement by leading projects in areas of identified risk (Safety CAP program)
  • Benchmark and implement World class Safety Management system (People, Facilities and environment

    Competencies / Minimum Requirements:
  • Degree in Engineering and/or a Health and Safety qualification with minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment and/or in the area of Health & Safety.
